Having woke late this morning to a force 10 gale & feeling like I'd been hit by a truck avoiding a kangaroo, I made my way over to the shower/toilet block in an attempt to feel more human again. (For anyone wondering there is no other reason other than having been awake for approximately 20 hours yesterday!)

Before he left us last night Adam the manager gave us strict instructions to close the doors to the blocks as the mozzies & flies are such an issue (nothing unusual for Oz!) However, following my morning ablutions in the modest but clean smelling loo & shower cubicles, I realised he needn't worry as it appears that the spiders will take care of the flies!

Since coming here I have trained myself to spider scan the area, as once you know they are there it's not such a shock. The ones in the loos here are relatively small but whilst under the shower I looked up and half expected a giant huntsmen to poke his head through the gaping hole in the ceiling above my head, just to see the panic on my 8 faces! :)

After a gorgeous brekkie cooked to perfection and with the helpful directions from owner Adam & his dad, we are now off to find our original camp. As it happens I'm really glad we stayed here, a genuinely friendly place with everything you need after hours of travelling, the showers have plenty of hot water & the food is great & anyway, what's a few spiders between friends! We also found a really useful toasting tool in the shop so now Lee can have his much loved morning toast!

After finding a spot to camp up we set off for the beach (which according to the map was 900m away) loaded up like a pair of pack horses with all our worldly goods to spare the worry of the walk at Wilson Prom! The route through the dunes was lovely, the weather quite hot but with a strong breeze.

Okay, so we made it to the ocean beach (definitely more than 900m away!) which was empty, wild and beautiful but the wind was so strong, the waves were big and the sand was whipping against us like a million tiny bullets so killing any ideas of a chilled out afternoon reading & swimming, we turned round and headed back to the camper!

So much for a day lazing on the beach but we'd experienced a bit of the park and were ready for pastures new :)

Lake Albert Caravan Park

As we were now on schedule for the journey to Adelaide in the morning we wanted somewhere close to stop for the night so we found a site on Google on the edge of Lake Albert/Yarli at Miningie. As we didn't need electric, we were directed to a beautiful spot right on the waters edge. At 20 dollars a night this was a real bargain.
